Increasing the efficiency and cost effectiveness of global packaging management with Teamcenter thin client
Harley-Davidson is the producer of the world's most recognizable brand of motorcycle. 2005 revenues were $5.34 billion, up for the 20th consecutive year.
Harley-Davidson had a legacy Packaging management system that was not integrated with their Teamcenter system and was costing them excessive maintenance fees.
Synapsis played a pivotal role in migrating their system from the legacy Packaging environment to Teamcenter 2005 (Thin Client Interface). This included capturing requirements, designing the solution, developing server-side and thin client code overseas, migrating the data, managing the project, and training both the users and H-D IS staff on the new functionality.
Packaging users participating in the early testing and deployment have commented that the new system will make their jobs much easier. Also, the maintenance savings from shutting down the old system will allow the short-handed Packaging group to hire more people. The Packaging thin client implementation is being used as the H-D standard with regards to future Teamcenter projects.
Synapsis offers a FREE bi-monthly newsletter covering various issues of compliance and PLM.
