Synapsis Announces EMARS - Environmental Materials Aggregation and Reporting System for Managing Environmental Compliance

Synapsis Technology, Inc. announced the availability of EMARS, a complete solution for end-to-end management and reporting of material content for environmental compliance. EMARS (Environmental Materials Aggregation and Reporting System) manages, aggregates and reports on the substances of environmental concern within any product structure.

The implementation of environmental regulations such as the European End of Life Vehicle Directive (ELV), Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) and Restrictions on the use of certain Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS) is requiring product manufacturers to capture and report the material content of their products. The management of the material content for parts and products is critical for companies whose products must comply with these and other environmental regulations.

"Reporting of environmental compliance is labor intensive and costly because information exchange is required across the entire supply chain" according to Lonnie Gillihan, President of Synapsis Technology, Inc. "The EMARS solution provides transparent access to back-end systems through a unique architecture that is data source independent. This capability significantly reduces the cost of compliance and provides a framework that easily adapts to changes in the supply chain and changes in environmental regulations."

Synapsis has developed a proprietary validation engine, known as Compliance Checker™ that can validate against one or many specifications. The system supports RosettaNet™ XML, IMDS™ and Compliance Connect™ protocols for sending and receiving material content declarations. Compliance specifications are stored as XML templates, thereby providing the capability to support any standard.

Patent pending technology within EMARS performs worst case analysis on multi-sourced components to reduce errors and time consuming manual calculations. Customers can choose selective aggregation to limit the disclosure of product content for competitive reasons.
