China RoHS establishes a brand new set of requirements for your products. Fail to meet these requirements and you could be blocked from shipping your products to China. Learn how EMARS can help.
Phase one of China RoHS went into effect on March 1st, 2007. A key requirement of phase one is that companies must produce a substance disclosure report and include it in the product literature. This declaration table must be presented in an “x-and-o” (“tic-tac-toe”) format that indicates the presence or absence of any of the six China RoHS hazardous substances.
Generate "X-and-0" declaration reports: EMARS enables you to produce China RoHS declaration tables for all of your products in minutes.
Use real product data: EMARS reports are accurate because EMARS accesses real product data from your enterprise data system (e.g. PLM or ERP). So when your product’s bill of material (BOM) or your suppliers change, your reports stay up-to-date.
Tailor the report: EMARS users can adjust the look of the report according to product or customer needs. The rows of the report can be adjusted within the user interface to represent individual components of the BOM, major sub-assemblies of the product, or any grouping of components.
Phase one requires disclosure, but phase two of China RoHS requires product compliance. In other words, when phase two goes into effect, your product must not contain the six substances above minute threshold levels. Use EMARS today to help ensure your products are China RoHS compliant when phase two comes online.
Drill-down to find the source of a compliance failure: When a China RoHS compliance report contains an X, you can drill down to see why it’s an X. This allows you to pinpoint the specific supplier parts or data gaps that are causing the failure and take action.
Perform top-down compliance analysis: The x-and-o disclosure reports that EMARS generates are more than just reports. They are a mechanism for top-down compliance analysis of your products. You can even perform worst case analysis that analyzes all the multi-sourced permutations of your product.
Achieving China RoHS compliance is not a one-time event. Your products are changing, your suppliers are changing, even the regulation itself will change – there’s always a potential for new substances, new thresholds, and new exemptions. As a result, your compliance efforts should be on-going and, wherever possible, automatic.
